It was the worst of times; it was the best of times?

Blog-Post-Full-size[1]

Well, what a time to be launching a brand-new initiative.

And what a time, full stop.

We, like you, are slowly, no quickly, coming to terms with the ever-changing landscape, this brave new world and are working out just what it means for our business, our ‘parent’ business Creation ADM (actually, they’re more of a cool best friend than a parent…) and, of course, what it means to us as individuals.

And as human beings.

We could throw our hands up in despair and lament lost work, lost opportunities and goals for 2020 which suddenly seem both unachievable… and utterly irrelevant.

Do we halt our plans, or do we push ahead with the worry that, at best, our efforts may be lost in the noise, or at worst, appear opportunistic?

We’re thinking about all these things.

BUT the fact is, the ideas and principles which led us to setting up A Better Planet in the first place are arguably now more important than ever.

These are founded on a desire to look after (or save…) planet earth, to make it a nicer place to be and to play our part in helping everyone working to achieve this.

You can read more about why and how we are doing this here.

It wasn’t so long ago that this kind of work would have been considered a bit wishy-washy. Well-meaning, but not hugely important; and certainly not the bread and butter of any serious business.

How times change.

Whatever your views are on the situation we currently find ourselves in and how it came about, there is no escaping the fact that right now, people are appreciating this planet, its open green spaces, coastlines, waterways, woodlands and all of its magnificent beauty, more than ever. For some time, the zeitgeist has been all about the climate emergency. This and the impacts of air pollution on our health dominate the headlines on an almost daily basis.

Until now, that is.

In amongst the worry and uncertainty, we must look for the positives.

Our immediate priority, of course, is the health and wellbeing of our nearest and dearest. We need to be sensible and follow the guidance in order to keep as many people as possible safe.

Then, perhaps you, like us, have considered that this situation could be a turning point for how we view the natural world, the priorities of government, our politicians, big business and all of us as individuals?

We are seeing some amazing examples of how Mother Nature is repairing just some of the damage we have done. If you’re not amazed by our planet’s capacity to recover in such a tiny period of time, you should be.

Maybe we can all take heart from the fact that if, when all of this is through, there is a greater appreciation of our environment and how incredibly valuable it is, and that’s not in the pounds and pence meaning of the word, then perhaps something really good can come from this?

The same can be said about how the ongoing situation is bringing people together, with a common goal. Just imagine what could be achieved if this was the norm…

There is no escaping that the impact of what we’re going through will be felt for a very, very long time.

Emotionally and economically.

BUT one thing is true; it’s a great leveller.

We’re all in this together.

For our part, we’re right here ready and willing to help in any way we can and we’d love to help you during and after these turbulent times.
